While rewatching episode 2x08 “Raving”, I couldn’t help myself to notice how weird this fight was. So I decided to slow it down and confirm what some people already mentioned before: Derek never bit Victoria.
He wasn’t even wolfed out. Actually, he seems quite weak to fight her, probably because of the wolfsbane smoke. We also see her throwing him to the floor and run. Whoever bit her, it wasn’t Derek.
Broken, desperate & hopeless Derek in 3x03 aka I’m moving to Nope!ville in the middle of fucking Kill Me Now! Land Part 1
Holy fucking batman on a vespa this episode broke me and it’s like Derek is just SLOWLY SINKING INTO SO MUCH ANGST NO ONE CAN HELP HIM. I JUST CAN’T OK.
In fact, honestly, Lydia’s entire problem is very typical of how people treat those with problems like depression or anxiety. People are very selfishly concerned— even if they’re not selfish people or don’t mean to be —with problems that they can see because those problems affect them personally. When someone with depression is tired and doesn’t like doing things, people notice, and they try to encourage them to stop this behavior, not to find the help that they need to deal with the inside problems that are causing the physical symptoms. The same is true with anxiety disorders, where people only notice if you are in the throws of a panic attack, not that you are torturing yourself all day long because you can’t control what you’re feeling.
And the same is true of Lydia. Her problem is that she isn’t in control of herself, and the fact that she keeps entering into dangerous situations and finding bodies is symptomatic. It is not the problem, and telling her to be careful and only worrying about her when she is showing symptoms does not help her get better. Furthermore, there is nothing more irritating than hearing someone who is in control of their emotions/actions/etc. tell you simply how to stop your symptoms. You wouldn’t explain to someone with no legs the mechanics behind walking, so don’t tell someone with an anxiety disorder how you would calm down, and don’t tell Lydia Martin that she should stop doing dangerous stuff. Stopping your concern when someone with a problem in their mind stops showing physical symptoms is not showing understanding or support, and is in fact more indicative of your generally not giving a fuck about offering any actual help.
Fucking Lydia motherfuckin Martin always being somewhere or seeing something and getting in dangerous situations then my baby Stiles and Scott go save her and she doesn’t say shit to them
a list of things that Lydia Martin owes Stiles and Scott
- no
- fucking
- thing
no get the hell out of the Lydia Martin
I want to rephrase the original post. Lydia Martin enters into dangerous situations because she has control of her own body taken away from her without her consent, after which Stiles and/or Scott make sure that she is superficially safe before scolding her for being so irresponsible with her own safety. They then make no effort to fix the overarching problem of her inability to control her own body because her mental safety is not concerning to them as it does not directly affect them.
#i could get behind this #like when cora’s finally in her right mind and settled in with derek and isaac at the loft #isaac bringing her a bowl of cereal in the morning #her smiling at him #then derek clearing his throat from the couch and looking at isaac like ‘dont even think about it’ #and isaac just shrugging #winking at cora and leaving for school #cora going all ‘i think i like him you chose a good one big bro’ #and derek groaning like ‘please no just /NO/’ #mmm and isaac and cora shoving at each other playfully during training sessions #whispering and laughing while derek’s trying to talk to them #and derek getting /this close/ to losing it every time #yeah i could dig that (via alphavenger)
